Family home Breda, Netherlands
Profound communication between indoors and outdoors is always present in this dynamic volume. Its design allows each area of the house to blend with each season of the year; resulting in spaces full of harmony and sunlight.
Environmentally conscious characteristics are also present in this project. For example, there is a neutral Co2 air balance through the house, solar vacuum tubes have been installed on the roof for heating and warm water usage. Also a higher insulation value on walls, floors and ceilings have been applied and a very advanced domotica system as a control tool of the house is also part of this package.
The glass façade is made of a "four seasons" 43mm thick glass package. On the upper section of the façade, untreated Western red cedar wood has been applied as a second skin, bringing a higher insulation indoors and also a magnificent color variation to the façade as time passes by. All this together has delivered a maintenance free façade.
